Glaucoma Awareness Month

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month, an important time to spread the word about this sight-stealing disease. 

 

Glaucoma is called “the sneak thief of

sight” since there are no symptoms and once vision is lost, it’s permanent. As much as 40% of vision can be lost without a person noticing. Glaucoma can occur at any age but is more common in older adults. It is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60. 

 

Follow the mentioned things to prevent vision loss from Glaucoma.

  • Go for regular eye checkups
  • Eat eye-healthy foods 
  • Maintain a healthy body weight 
  • Avoid head-down positions 
  • Sleep in the right direction 
  • Maintain dental hygiene  
  • Protect eyes from UV rays

Constipation is a very common health issue for all ages in the United States. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, about 33 out of 100 individuals suffer from the symptoms of constipation.

 

The prevalence of this uncomfortable condition increases as we age. It is important to try and avoid such specific foods and to also consider some of the mentioned home remedies to help with constipation.

We are pleased to announce that Cynthia Wilson has been selected to be Assured Home Nursing CNA/Caregiver of the Month for December 2022. 

 

Cynthia has been a professional caregiver for over 33 years. She has been a dedicated employee of Assured Home Nursing for almost 17 of those 33 years. She began her career as a caregiver at a very young age 

 

and still enjoys being a caregiver very much to this day. She is most passionate about helping her clients achieve the goals they have set for themselves.

 

Cynthia is an exceptional caregiver because she always puts her client’s needs first. She makes sure with each person that she shows them compassion and that, first and foremost, she shows them that she cares about their feelings. Her #1 goal while taking care of her clients is to make sure they are safe and secure!

 

When Cynthia is not working as a caregiver, she enjoys writing, reading and networking. She also enjoys visiting with people. During these visits, Cynthia will always try to provide people with inspiration and positive feelings, especially if they are feeling under the weather.
