Healthy Recipe for Seniors

Overnight Oatmeal with Milk

22

With November being National Diabetes Awareness Month, here is a diabetes-friendly recipe for a morning meal. This balanced breakfast will power you through the first part of your day, break the overnight fasting, and keep your blood sugar stable.

Oats contain a specific form of fiber known as beta-glucans. It helps lower blood sugar levels and improves overall health. Oats can be eaten as porridge in the mornings but if you are looking for tastier options, this recipe works well.

Alzheimer's Awareness Month

Newsletter images for OCT 2022 (9)

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. It’s time to understand the progressive medical condition that is affecting more than five million people in the U.S yearly.

An early Alzheimer’s diagnosis provides a better chance to get treated and makes individuals eligible for a wider variety of clinical trials, which advance research and may provide medical benefits.

6 Early Signs of Alzheimer’s that Shouldn’t be Ignored

1. Change in vision

2. Trouble in performing daily tasks

3. Lapse in judgement

4. Confusion in remembering places & things

5. Difficulty in speaking

6. Mood changes

The sooner the disease is identified, the easier it becomes to plan better and start treatment.

      Congratulations to

       Anna Hughes🎉

We are pleased to announce that Anna Hughes has been selected to be Assured Home Nursing Caregiver of the Month for October 2022.

Anna has been a professional caregiver for almost 31 years. She worked as a caregiver in her native country for 20 years before coming to the United States, where she has been working as a CENA for the past eleven years.

Anna has a passion for being surrounded by her friends and family. She devotes much of her free time to be around the people she loves and feels passionate about.

She also likes to exercise and stay in shape, which I am sure is an added bonus for her clients. Staying in shape allows Anna the emotional and physical endurance that is required in such a demanding field

Activities Anna enjoys outside of work are volunteering and sharing time with her family and friends.

When asked what do you do for your client's that makes you stand out as an exceptional caregiver? Anna responded:

"I think the essential part of being a caregiver is being present not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually. In my work I try to focus and engage my clients, showing them that I really do care for them. My reward at the end of the day is the smiles and gratitude expressed by clients and their families. That is the best part of my day."

We at Assured Home Nursing would like to thank Anna for her dedication to her profession and feel extremely fortunate that she is part of the Assured Nursing Team!
